It's almost impossible to find vintage albums on open reel tape at the thrifts any more, they all seem to get snagged by eBay dealers and sold online at asinine prices. So when I see one, I usually snatch it up - if it's good music. Here are three that I rescued this summer. The Vanilla Fudge / Rock & Roll tape (1969, Ampex) made me especially happy, that's some crazy old school stuff there. The Copland / Appalachian Spring is still new, never been played. $2 each. Ignore the funky water stained box, the tape (and label) inside is still clean:
